We’re looking for an experienced Chef de Partie/ Kaitunu tuarua to join our passionate F&B team in our Dark Sky Diner. This role will be responsible for assisting the Head Chef/Kaitunu matua to create extraordinary culinary delights for our manuhiri (visitors), so if you have a love of kai (food) and baking then this might be the opportunity for you!
Our world-class Astronomy Centre on Takapō lakefront brings to life the science of stars and Tātai aroraki (Māori astronomy) through an immersive and engaging international experience. This experience is a world-first and compliments the range of outdoor experiences that we currently offer to our domestic and international visitors to the region.
Our purpose is to make the connection - with our customers, through our people, to our place and to Ngāi Tahu.
We take great pride in warmly welcoming manuhiri to our experiences. Manaakitanga (hospitality) is one of the core values that drives the way we do business. As hosts, we care for our customers and our team as our own whānau.
A little bit about you

We’re after someone who:

  • Can dazzle us with previous experience as a Chef or Cook
  • Has a range of skills in the kitchen including all aspects of baking/cooking as well as time management/organisation
  • Has a minimum of three years’ experience in a professional kitchen
  • Works well in a team, and can manage a team well
  • Is eager to learn and correctly pronounce reo Māori names and terms
  • Stays cool under pressure
  • Is able to work shifts on weekdays, weekends and public holidays

Anything could happen in a day - and we need someone who isn’t afraid of a long and varied to-do list!
