Description:

Location: US-Ohio-Barberton Overview:
This position in in a manufacturing environment. Co-op associate will address material, manufacturing and customer issues from both an engineering and chemistry perspective, develop understanding of needs assessments and the consultative nature of the Chemist’s role with clients, and work along with plant chemists and engineers to see that problems are addressed in real life.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop new polymeric compounds for applications in all areas of the business.
  • Establish mixing procedures for production mixing of rubber compounds.
  • Follow trials of product manufacturing in company operations and/or customer facilities.
  • Work closely with manufacturing and technical groups to attain company goals.
  • Plan and conduct complex experiments to test, prove and modify theoretical propositions.
  • Evaluate findings to develop new concepts, products, equipment, processes or develop applications of findings to new uses.
  • Confer with scientific, engineering and technical personnel to resolve testing problems such as product or system malfunctions, incomplete test data and data interpretation.
  • Analyze and interpret test data.
  • May be required to travel (at company expense) to customer locations or other regional plants.
