ABOUT YOU
- A successfully completed degree in chemical engineering, process engineering, chemistry, or a technician specializing in chemical engineering.
- 3-5 years of professional experience in process safety, production, or plant planning.
- Very good written and spoken German and good English skills.
- Ability to build business partnerships across and between functional groups and lead a project or technical team.
- High energy and passion for excellence, bias for action, adaptability, and resilience.
- Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work independently, multi-task, follow through, and meet deadlines.
- Strong computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.
- Some international travel (10%) will be required between global Symrise locations.

Responsibilities:
As a Chemical Process Safety Engineer (m/f/d) you are a member of the global Chemical Safety Management (CSM) Team and responsible for ensuring compliance with Symrise Process Safety Management (PSM) policies and procedures and regulations. In addition, your responsibilities include the effective application of process safety related programs, developing innovative solutions for evolving standards, establishing, and fostering a healthy and effective process safety culture, and managing risks.
- Manage, coordinate, and implement all elements of the Symrise Process Safety Management (PSM) program in addition to any requirements specific to the location.
- Schedule, lead, and document the PHA/HAZOP evaluations for new and existing processes.
- Perform Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA) to determine if the risk of an incident scenario is low enough to meet company requirements.
- Coordinate and schedule internal and external compliance review audits.
- Develop, implement, and provide process safety training and monitor compliance with training requirements.
- Perform technical reviews of proposed new projects and process changes to identify and communicate any PSM ramifications.
- Report on the status of process safety incidents to management, lead investigations related to these incidents, and coordinate the development of corrective actions based upon investigations.
- Provide oversight of the Management of Change (MOC) and Pre-Start-up Safety Review (PSSR) process.
- Perform routine monitoring of documentation to ensure compliance with Symrise process safety requirements, including written procedures, Process Safety Information (PSI), and closure of PHA/HAZOP and audit action items.
