Position Overview:
As a Chemist, you will maintain and develop expertise in the analytical chemistry discipline as well as general unit support techniques. You will support reliable operations of the laboratory areas to meet safety, environmental, production (quality), and margin requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide laboratory support for non-routine events/upsets.
  • Assist operations on special projects and performance tests/runs.
  • Support Quality Assurance/Quality Control programs.
  • Prioritize testing for effectiveness.
  • Set-up of new instrumentation and methods.
  • Identify opportunities to improve laboratory performance and reliability and develop proposals to achieve these opportunities through the capital process as required.
  • Implement and apply causal learnings.
  • Attend technical and business-related training and discipline related conferences.
  • Ensure proper application of SQC tools by utilizing them to constantly improve the measurement system through identification and immediate correction of OOC issues.
  • Ensure test methods placed in service are sustainable and provide reliable results.
  • Maintain instrument performance through preventative maintenance, calibrations, and SQC review.
  • Work with Technology suppliers as necessary to implement laboratory improvements.

Experience and Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher education in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience working as a Chemist in a petrochemical laboratory
  • Expertise in Analytical Instrumentation and Method Development
  • Expertise in Statistical Quality Control Charts Management
  • Expertise in analyzing data, troubleshooting and instrument repair
  • Knowledge of Product Controls and Product Control Management
  • Knowledge of laboratory operations and stakeholder management
  • Ability to deliver, innovate, and implement new industry best practices

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time
