Description:

A DAY IN THE LIFE:

The primary purpose of the Chemist is to adhere to testing methods, validate new instrumentation and assist production through advanced statistical decision-making processes. This role is a temporary position & will work approximately an eight month contract.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • BSc Degree in Chemistry, Food Science or related field or greater. Masters Degree preferred.
  • 2 to 3 years analytical experience in lipid chemistry laboratory
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Statistical and chemical interactions with interpretation.
  • Ability to write technical lab reports.
  • Self-starter with hands-on approach to problem solving.
  • Committed to team goals and brings energy to projects.
  • Ability to lift 20Kg.
  • Travel required.

Responsibilities:

  • Development of new testing methods for the laboratory
  • Validates and verifies future methods can be performed accurately and efficiently.
  • Assist QC Laboratory in advanced analytical interpretation.
  • Provide mitigation solutions for low level chemical contaminants.
  • Interpret data trends through data reviews, spec reviews and SPC by reviewing data and trends to determine specification compliance.
  • Chemical interpretation of methods and revision writing of analytical methods.
  • Keep a safe and clean working laboratory environment.
  • Responsible for validating new instrumentation through methodical analytical testing.
  • Developing new methods and implementing methods into QC or other facility areas.
  • Adherence to the proposed schedule for the factory.
  • Assistance in production as needed for new instrumentation and support of systems.
  • Data interpretation applying SPC or Six Sigma skills for Analytical Specification justification.
  • This position supports methods development and implementation.
  • Communicates plans and actions with Production Management.
  • Requesting needed chemicals and maintaining accurate inventory levels
  • All other duties and continuous improvements projects as assigned.
  • Responsible for Food Safety and Quality by following company Quality Systems and implementing Food Safety in the daily analysis of materials and finished products in alignment with Food Safety programs.
