CHESTER ART CENTRE COORDINATOR JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Overview: The Chester Art Centre Coordinator plays a pivotal role in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Centre. This dynamic position involves managing exhibitions, programs, and fundraising events, while ensuring that the Centre’s facilities and systems are maintained in optimal condition. The Coordinator is responsible for leading, mentoring, and collaborating with volunteers, committee members, and other stakeholders to ensure all projects are successfully executed according to plan. The Coordinator will work closely with active committees that support the Centre’s mission and vision.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:

  • A degree or relevant experience in arts management, cultural administration, or a related field.
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in fundraising, donor relations, and follow-up.
  • Proficiency in office management technology, marketing, and social media.
  • Basic understanding of accounting and budgeting practices.
  • A valid driver’s license is required; access to personal transportation is preferred.
  • Knowledge of art materials, supplies, and exhibition-related logistics.
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working with and mentoring volunteers.
  • Experience working with an active Board and committees.

Responsibilities:

  • Fundraising (in collaboration with the Development Committee): Oversee and manage fundraising projects and initiatives, contributing to the financial sustainability of the Centre.
  • Facilities Management (working with the Building Committee): Ensure the proper maintenance and functionality of the Centre’s facilities, systems, and infrastructure.
  • Exhibit Development (in partnership with the Exhibitions/Programming Committee): Assist in the creation, coordination, and production of exhibitions, presentations, and community programs.
  • Communications (working with the Marketing & Communications Committee): Develop and execute a marketing and communication strategy to engage with the Centre’s core audience, ensuring regular outreach via digital platforms, print, and other media.
  • Exhibit Installation and Removal: Coordinate the logistics of installing and removing exhibitions, ensuring high-quality execution and timelines are met.
  • Office Management: Ensure smooth office operations, including documentation, record-keeping, and regular communication with relevant stakeholders.
  • Project Management: Ensure that all projects are completed on time, within budget, and in alignment with the expectations set by the Board and stakeholders.
  • Community Engagement: Foster relationships with the broader community and maintain regular communication with volunteers, enhancing their experience and engagement with the Centre.
