Description:

Under the general direction of multiple Department Chairs and Program Directors provide leadership, oversight and management for seven departments and programs. The oversight and management include the areas of business and finance, extensive contract and grant administration, academic and staff human resources, teaching and instructional support, computer operations and support, space and research and teaching laboratory support needs. Actively encourage and participate in training and education of staff; implement team building with administrative staff and participate in management meetings with Department Chairs/Directors and other supervisors/managers to discuss departmental issues, concerns and needs. Participate in and oversees the yearly planning of budget together with chairs/directors, faculty, and staff.

  • Three years or more of increasingly responsible business management experience to manage and oversee a complex and diverse group of units and programs in the areas of strategic planning and analysis, financial planning and budget analysis, human resources, space and facility requirements and information technology.
  • Human resource experience to recruit, supervise, train, evaluate, motivate, resolve problems/conflicts, conduct performance management, discipline, and build effective service-oriented team environments.
  • Experience with the development of organizational structures, delegating, developing policies and procedures and implementation.
  • Strategic planning, analytical and program evaluation skills to effectively provide sound recommendations, continually examine systems and develop or revise to accommodate change requirements.
  • Interpersonal, oral and written communication skills to share information with all levels of personnel and with diverse populations within the Unit, campus and outside agencies.
  • Knowledge of and skills to implement principles of performance management, multiculturalism and diversity, coaching skills to enhance staff contributions.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Quantitative and analytical skills to prepare statistical reports, budgets and projections and to interpret reports prepared by others.
  • Knowledge of University policy and procedures in all areas pertinent to academic departments and programs.
