Description:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Admission to the New York State Bar; and four years of recent full-time responsible, relevant, satisfactory legal experience subsequent to admission to any bar, eighteen months of which must have been in the supervision of other attorneys, in an administrative, managerial or executive capacity, or performing highly complex and significant legal work.
Incumbents must remain Members of the New York State Bar in good standing for the duration of this employment.

PREFERRED SKILLS

A minimum of 10 years of full time satisfactory professional experience in law or compliance related management. A focus on complex organizational structures subject to regulatory oversight, or housing policy related to property management and health and safety preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor city, state and federal regulations to ensure that NYCHA’s operational policies and procedures are up to-date. Oversee the revision of existing policies and procedures and the creation of new ones.
  • Develop an annual compliance plan outlining NYCHA’s risk exposure and where NYCHA will focus compliance efforts for the coming year.
  • Monitor the National Standards for the Physical Inspection of Real Estate (NSPIRE) inspection process to ensure the integrity of the process.
  • Ensure that compliance is integrated into property management, both frontline staff and management and overseeing compliance training for frontline staff and management.
  • Act as liaison to the Environmental Health and Safety Officer.
  • Communicate with the public and stakeholders regarding compliance issues, including creating a platform for employee and resident complaints.
  • Establish processes designed to ensure the accuracy of external reporting and statements by NYCHA.
  • Report regularly to the CEO on issues related to compliance and regulatory oversight
