Description:

Position: Chief Development Officer
Location: 3003 S. Country Club Road
Reports to: CEO
Function: will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the overall resource development, institutional advancement, and community engagement strategy of the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona (CFB) in support of our community of stakeholders and constituents, our organizations current and long-term operating and capital resource-development needs, our philanthropic impact as a partner capacity-building grant-maker, our brand positioning & marketing goals as the go-to top-of-mind food-security organization in southern Arizona, our community engagement & voluntarism strategies, and our public relations & communication objectives.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • MBA, MPA, or comparable organizational or business leadership degree required.
  • Ten years of experience in a fundraising and donor solicitation role, with a demonstrated track record of meeting or exceeding fundraising targets.
  • Five years of experience in a management capacity, proven effective in managing and developing staff.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office as well as experience with Raisers Edge.
  • Three (3) years clean driving record
  • Current, valid Arizona Drivers License
  • For company insurance purposes, at least 21 years of age.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Direct experience in development, including grant writing, direct mail, cause marketing, corporate and foundation fundraising, public policy, and special events.
  • Prior experience leading the public relations/communications function.
  • CFRE credential

Physical Requirements:

  • Light Work exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.

Responsibilities:

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plans, develops and leads CFBs overall institutional advancement and resource-development strategies in alignment with the organizations strategic direction and consultation and partnership with the Leadership Team, the CDOs departmental staff, and other vital constituencies necessary.
  • Ensures that CFBs resource development, community engagement & voluntarism, and marketing & PR strategies effectively achieve the desired annual and multi-year results and objectives to support the organization’s current and long-term strategic goals.
  • Oversees fundraising activities, including foundation and corporate fundraising, direct mail, special events, and cause marketing campaigns.
  • In partnership with the CEO, the Leadership Team, the Board of Directors, and other applicable public policy advocates, participate in building and implementing strategies to engage our community in mobilizing CFB, including elected officials, in support of public policies to improve the food security of low-income residents in our service area.
  • Develops internal philanthropic & advancement leaders within the Leadership Team, the development & marketing functions, within program management, and volunteer leaders.
  • Provides professional expertise to the CEO, the Leadership Team, various CFB staff, and the Board of Directors.
  • Works with the CEO and Board of Directors to establish a presence in the community to increase the organizations visibility as a funding source for potential and current/past donors. Identifies opportunities and programs to engage new donors. Maintains relationships with current and past financial donors and supports the food acquisition team in similar efforts with food donors.

OTHER DUTIES:

  • Oversees the public relations/communications function to develop marketing strategies to promote the organizations mission.
  • Oversees the research and preparation of grants.
  • Oversees the donor database and champions the expanded use of donor research and donor database functionality to support the needs organizations needs.
  • Develops and manages the Development & Marketing Departments budget.
  • Directly manages a portfolio of major donors and oversees the management of similar portfolios across the Leadership Team, the Development & Marketing Department team, program management, and key volunteer leaders.
  • Other duties as assigned.
