Vard Design & Engineering is VARD’s inhouse design & engineering entity, leading in development of advanced and specialized vessel designs from the contract signing till the delivery of the vessel. QUALIFICATIONS
- Relevant technical education from university or vocational school
- Chief Engineer and sailing experience
- Experienced in rules & regulations related to design and shipbuilding
- Experience from newbuildings
- Broad experience about vessel systems, equipment and integration
Responsibilities:
We are looking for chief engineers with both vessel operation and new build experience to strengthen our Design & Engineering team. You will be part of our Engineering Project Management department within Design & Engineering, working in close cooperation with experienced technical coordinators and a proficient team of engineers from all technical disciplines. The chief engineer is the central role between project management, engineering and commissioning.
The chief engineer is to be involved from the early phase of the project with special focus on the following responsibilities and tasks:
- Having the overall technical overview across systems and equipment throughout the project.
- Support in the quality control and approval of systems and equipment across disciplines, with regard to P&ID, arrangements, system philosophies.
- Support in the quality control of systems and equipment interfaces
- Technical procurement support
Based on the in-depth knowledge of the specific project the chief engineer will have the following responsibilities in the later stage of the project until delivery:
- Overall responsibility of practical following up the systems and interfaces in the project
- Support the commissioning coordinator in maintaining the commissioning plan and keeping the overall overview of commissioning status.
- Participate on equipment FAT
- Responsible for the ship operation and safety during the HAT
- Act as Chief Engineer at sea trial
It is expected that the chief engineer follows the project in Ålesund during the engineering phase and then at our local yards during outfitting and commissioning.
