Shangri-La The Marina, Cairns is seeking a passionate Chief Engineer to join our talented team at our Cairns waterfront hotel.
Responsibilities:
THE ROLE
As the Chief Engineer you will plan, direct, control and coordinate the activities in the department, such as the operation and maintenance of all electrical and mechanical equipment used in air-conditioning, heating, refrigeration, water supply and building facilities of the entire Hotel.
The Chief Engineer will also be responsible for repairs and preventative maintenance of the Hotel’s paint work, carpentry, electrical appliances and furniture. In addition, overlooking the control and reduction of Energy Costs including electricity, gas and water.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develops and implements preventive maintenance and repair systems for hotel equipment, and ensures emergency procedures are in place for situations like fires.
- Ensures compliance with government regulations, including records, permits, and licenses, and conducts regular inspections of hotel facilities and equipment.
- Coordinates with external contractors for installations and repairs, while working closely with departments on new projects, equipment, and building alterations, including cost estimation.
- Prepares and submits periodic reports on operational costs, maintenance issues, and energy consumption to higher management, and advises on cost-saving measures.
- Manages staff training, maintains performance records, oversees inventory control, and ensures completion of projects on time through effective coordination of engineering personnel.
