JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
The Chief Engineer (CE) is the onsite leader of building, equipment and grounds condition of the hotel. This position will lead and/or perform maintenance and repairs, and preventative maintenance, to all areas of the hotel. The CE is responsible for maintaining a clean and organized maintenance shop and for the security of the hotel inventory and assets such as tools, supplies, furniture, fixtures, and equipment. The CE’s focus on guest and associate satisfaction, expense control and product quality and will lead to their contribution to the overall goals of the hotel. This role is part of teh Executive Leadership Team for the hotel.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Summary: Oversees the organization’s facilities maintenance function. Job Duties: Directs a team responsible for the maintenance of buildings and grounds, including renovations, expansions, and improvements. Develops and implements policies and procedures for receiving and prioritizing requests for maintenance. Develops schedules for preventative maintenance and ensures that facilities are inspected regularly to identify current and potential maintenance needs. Ensures repairs comply with internal policies and external regulations. Maintains records and documentation related to repairs made. Experience and Education: Leads and directs the work of other employees. Supervision is often provided through a team of subordinate managers. Responsible for personnel actions including hiring, performance management, and termination. Contributes to strategic planning, direction, and goal setting for the department or function. Recommends policies, practices, and procedures that have a significant impact on the organization. Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree and 8 or more years of experience. Tip: In some organizations, this role could be titled as Assistant or Associate Vice President. Reports to: Typically reports to an executive. Competencies: Ability to develop and mentor others.
