MORE ABOUT YOU

To qualify, you will need a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Public Administration, or a related field, with 5+ years of experience in economic development, business management, or a related field, preferably within Indigenous or First Nations contexts, will also be essential.

Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:

  • A Master’s degree in a relevant field (asset)
  • Developed experience in Chief and Council/Government relations
  • Strong understanding of Indigenous rights, culture, and socio-economic issues
  • Demonstrated experience in financial management and strategic planning
  • Excellent communication skills and stakeholder engagement ability
  • Developed experience with economic/business development processes such as feasibility studies, cost analyses, etc.
  • Familiarity with Land code or Land use

We are looking for a visionary leader who can not only meet the operational and strategic objectives of yáqʷa Development Corporation but also uplift and empower Haisla members and independent, non-Nation members through economic opportunities and development initiatives.

  • Developing and implementing strategic plans to advance economic development goals
  • Building strong relationships with Haisla membership, First Nations communities, and stakeholders
  • Overseeing financial health, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting
  • Leading operational management and ensuring alignment with organizational goals
  • Supporting economic empowerment and community development initiatives
  • Ensuring compliance with laws, regulations, and governance standards
  • Identifying and mitigating operational, financial, and reputational risks
  • Liaising with Chief and Council, private organizations and government entitie
