JOB SUMMARY

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will be a strategic partner to the CEO and the Executive Management team, providing financial leadership and guidance to support the company’s growth goals. The CFO is accountable for overseeing the financial operations of the company, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting, and guiding the organization’s financial planning. The CFO will oversee a diverse team of ~30 employees in accounting, finance, cost accounting, pricing, risk management, BI, and project finance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the Finance and Accounting departments, ensuring efficient financial operations including forecasting, pricing, reporting and compliance with regulations.
  • Reports accurate and timely financial information and risk assessments to the Board of Directors and to the audit and compensation committees as requested.
  • Develop and maintain a rolling five-year financial plan to guide the company’s long-term financial strategy.
  • Directs the preparation of all financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, cash flow, shareholder reports, tax returns, and governmental agency reports.
  • Compares financial results to anticipated results; makes or oversees any necessary corrective actions and/or adjustments to future forecasts.
  • Manage cash flow positions and assess borrowing needs. Oversee relationships with banks and lenders, ensuring compliance with financial covenants and regulations.
  • Maintains relationships with external auditors and other financial consultants to ensure effective oversight, advice and collaboration.
  • Understand and mitigate elements of the company’s risk profile, including overseeing business insurance to determine appropriate coverages.
  • Identify and evaluate opportunities for business expansion and growth ensuring alignment with organizational strategies and goals.
  • Analyze business operations with key stakeholders to identify and implement improvements, reorganization opportunities, and efficiency enhancements.
  • Manages the year-end company valuation process for the employer sponsored retirement plan and gifting purposes.
  • Act as an advisory team member for the employer sponsored retirement plan and 401(k) plans, supporting Trustees in their responsibilities.
  • Other responsibilities and special projects as assigned by the Board and CEO.

Required Education, Skills, and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or other relevant field of study required.
  • 15+ years of progressive finance experience with 5+ years in a senior financial leadership capacity.
  • Prior experience in the manufacturing industry, including multi-plant or multi-site operations.
  • Experience in a commodity-based business with responsibility for strategic pricing.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, troubleshoot and problem-solve beyond routine issues.
  • High degree of independence, intuition, and initiative.
  • Skilled in database management and accounting software applications, including SAP and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Availability to travel as needed, with an estimated requirement of up to 25% annually.

Preferred Education, Skills, and Experience

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance; Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation strongly preferred.
  • Food or beverage manufacturing industry experience preferred.
  • M&A transaction or acquisition integration experience is a bonus.
  • Experience structuring financing is a bonus.
