Description:

EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS:

  • A Bachelor’s degree with a major in accountancy or finance is required.
  • A CPA or an MBA is preferred.

EXPERIENCE & SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • A minimum of five years’ experience in accountancy or finance is required with at least three of those years in healthcare financial management, preferably hospital or large group practice management.
  • Strong accounting, budgeting, financial and analytical capabilities
  • Excellent interpersonal abilities, including oral and written communications
  • Effective negotiation abilities
  • Proficiency with Excel, Word and other PC software programs with a working knowledge of healthcare business systems (practice management, electronic medical records, other)
  • Knowledgeable regarding the healthcare industry including reimbursement practices and compliance requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direction and oversight for the Finance, Services, Information Systems and Revenue Cycle Management Departments.
  • Assist the CEO and Board with establishment of short and long term goals consistent with the CCSF mission, and development of the means to achieve those goals.
  • Develop annual operating and capital budgets and prepare monthly financial statements measuring performance in relation to budget with provision of variance explanations.
  • Prepare quarterly reconciliations of physician compensation based on Board approved compensation plans, and assist with periodic evaluation of such compensation plans.
  • Provide routine and ad hoc statistics, information and analyses to the Board, physicians, mid-levels and management.
  • Maintain effective internal control policies and procedures to ensure prudent resource management and to safeguard assets.
  • Establish policies and procedures and monitor performance to ensure accurate, timely and complete billing and collection of all patient related services.

  • Ensure that CCSF establishes effective information systems to support its operations and provide security against breach of those systems.
  • Develop strategies and negotiate effective contracts with managed care organizations for patient services.
  • Manage the accounting records, including general ledger, fixed asset, accounts receivable and accounts payable, in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles or other Board approved basis of accounting.
  • Manage the purchasing, payables and cash disbursements functions.
  • Manage the billing and collections for non-patient related services.
  • Provide performance feedback, including annual formal evaluations, to directly supervised associates to assist with professional goals, growth and development.
  • Maintain effective relationships with representatives from professional, financial, managed care, health system and other organizations necessary for successful management of Cancer Center of South Florida finances and networking.
  • Manage the external financial audit with auditors.
  • Manage business insurance requirements, including coverage needs for professional liability, property & casualty, employment practices liability, Director’s and Officer’s and cyber security, among others.
  • Manage completion of all CCSF tax returns in a timely, accurate and complete manner.
  • Secure financing, as needed, for operating and capital expenditures, and manage ongoing debt compliance requirements.
  • Review and negotiate various other business agreements.
  • Assist the CEO and Board with special projects as needed (physician recruitment, health system agreements, space expansion, ancillary business development, etc.)
  • Complete all other duties as assigned.
