Description:
SUMMARY
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for the financial management and oversight of a non-profit healthcare organization that serves Medicaid beneficiaries. The CFO will lead the development and implementation of financial strategies, policies, and procedures to ensure the financial sustainability and growth of the organization by working with other functional areas. The CFO will also oversee the accounting, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, auditing, and compliance functions of the organization.
The CFO serves on the Executive Team and reports to and works closely with the CEO to set the organization’s financial policy and direction while also being an active participant in, and driver of, the organization’s overall strategy. The CFO must be able to adapt to a continually evolving environment and thrive in an autonomous and deadline-oriented workplace.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field. Master’s degree or CPA certification preferred.
- At least 10 years of progressive financial management experience in a $50+ million healthcare organization, preferably with revenue cycle experience.
- Strong knowledge and skills in financial modeling, analysis, forecasting, and reporting.
- Proficient in accounting principles and practices, financial software systems, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent business acumen, strategic thinking, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate complex financial information to diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to drive change and innovation.
- High ethical standards, integrity, and professionalism, with a commitment to the organization’s mission and values.
- Current driver’s license with acceptable driving record and acces to reliable transportation to conduct visits to multiple sites plus attend community meetings.

Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic leadership and direction for the financial operations and performance of the organization in conjunction with the CEO, Executive Team and Board of Directors.
- Provide strategic recommendations to the CEO through the development and maintenance financial of models and projections that support the organization’s strategic planning and decision making.
- Manage and optimize the organization’s revenue cycle, including billing, collections, reimbursement, and contracting with Medicaid, Missouri Department of Mental Health, Missouri Department of Health & Senior Services, and other payers.
- Prepare and present accurate and timely financial statements and reports to the board of directors, senior management, funders, and external stakeholders.
- Oversee short and long-term budgetary planning and cost management in alignment with the organization’s business and strategic plans.
- Be an advisor from the financial perspective on organizational contracts.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, standards, and best practices related to financial management, accounting, auditing, and taxation.
- Establish and maintain effective internal controls and risk management systems to safeguard the organization’s assets and prevent fraud, waste, and abuse.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop the finance and accounting staff and foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and excellence while continually structuring the team for improvements in efficiency and effectiveness.
- Collaborate with other senior leaders and departments to support the organization’s mission, vision, and values.
- Optimize the handling of bank and investment relationships and initiate appropriate strategies to enhance financial position.
- Serve as a member of the Board of Directors’ Finance Committee.
- The ability to effectively and efficiently use computers or mobile devices to input, access, modify, or output information. This includes the ability to quickly access, store and retrieve data.
