Chief Financial Officer
Position Summary
As a key member of the executive team, the CFO is responsible for leading Ambipar’s accounting function and financial strategy. This includes accurate and compliant accounting and internal controls, financial planning and analysis, and due diligence of potential investments, mergers, and acquisitions. He/she will also report financials to the parent company, Ambipar Response, which
manages treasury, tax, capital raising, and other group functions.

Essential Job Functions

  • Provide guidance and advice to the CEO, COO, and other members of senior management on financial and business issues.
  • Lead, manage, and oversee the finance and accounting functions, including the related internal controls, and delivery of U.S. GAAP-compliant results and jurisdiction specific statutory reporting. This includes financial reporting, short-range and longer-term financial planning, general and project accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, tax, and banking and cash management.
  • Lead, manage, develop, and retain the finance and accounting team.
  • Develop and monitor performance against short and long-term financial objectives, including forecasts, budgets, and growth plans.
  • Improve effectiveness and efficiency by streamlining, enhancing, and automating key processes.
  • Work closely with the CEO and other members of the executive team on potential investments, mergers, acquisitions, and strategic partnerships and alliances. Lead financial analysis of acquisition targets, including due diligence and financial integration of acquired businesses/teams/companies.
  • Lead the company’s cooperation with SEACOR finance to meet shareholder and public company requirements, including monthly results reporting and analysis, compliance requirements, cash and treasury management, and tax and property management.
  • Evaluate the impact to the organization of any regulatory issues, accounting changes or other emerging financial issues and implement appropriate changes to relevant processes and reporting.
  • Represent the company externally to government agencies, auditors, tax advisors, business consultants, etc. Coordinate annual financial audits.
  • Establish and maintain direct, open, and successful communications with customers, vendors, employees, and financial partners in alignment with company objectives.
  • Ensure excellence in the finance function’s performance across a global business, with offices in Washington DC, Houston, London, Singapore, a joint venture in Brazil, and short- to long-term consulting teams working on site with clients around the world.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • An undergraduate degree in finance, accounting, or business - or equivalent experience - is required. Certified Public Accountant and/or Master of Business Administration qualifications are strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of fifteen years of related experience in an accounting role with at least three years in a senior management role, ideally in a professional services company.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills in a collaborative, collegial, and partnership-type of environment.
  • Broad and deep understanding of accounting and finance principles, gained in part from working at a major accounting firm, with current knowledge of U.S. GAAP requirements.
  • Proven expertise performing in-depth analysis of financial plans including budgets, acquisitions, contract accounting, capital appropriations, financing, leasing, cash management, credit facilities, etc.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of project accounting principles, with a preference for proven experience in consulting and government contracting.
  • Demonstrate an ability to assess talent, clearly define roles, build teams, lead people, and coach and develop staff.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to drive challenging projects and motivate teams to achieve common goals.
  • Demonstrate experience leading merger & acquisition analysis, due diligence, and post- merger integration, ideally from both the buy- and sell-sides.
  • Demonstrate a track record to proactively identify, assess, analyze, and communicate financial scenarios that may affect business operations.
  • Deep experience creating and assessing budgets and financial statements.
  • Proven ability to proactively identify and lead the re-engineering of key processes and systems in support of the organization’s mission and objectives.
  • Strong organizational skills including the ability to implement change management initiatives.
  • Capability to work with tight deadlines without compromising quality. Must be able to effectively multi-task in a calm manner on time-sensitive, critical issues in a dynamic, stressful environment.
  • Must possess excellent presentation and communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Must be impeccably honest and ethical.
