JOB SUMMARY:

This schedule constitutes the primary duties and functions of the employee and forms an integral part of the Employment Agreement, although alternative duties, assignments and projects may be afforded to the employee.
Furthermore, Annexure A may be amended from time to time as may be required by the Company.

Responsibilities:

The Chief Flying Instructor (Rotor Wing) shall be the holder of a valid Grade I or Grade II flight instructor rating in the category of aircraft operated by the ATO and be responsible to ensure that Responsibilities:

  • All training staff are versed in the content of the ATO training and procedures manual.
  • All training is carried out in accordance with the ATO Training Plan and that relevant regulations are complied with.
  • The flight, flight simulator and theoretical training syllabi and ATO curriculum is adhered to as described in Parts 6 , 7 and 8 Below
  • Records are kept in accordance with Part 10 Below.
  • The flight authorisation book as required in CATS 141 is comprehensively completed and controlled in accordance with the ATO training and procedures manual.
  • A high standard of flying discipline is maintained in accordance with the policy prescribed in the ATO Flight training manual.
  • Oversight is carried out over Grade III instructors to uphold training standards and mentor instructors in preparation for a Grade II by:
  • Allocation of instructors to students and training flights.
  • Briefing of instructors on exercise to be carried out, recap on instructional techniques, common errors that may be expected from students and safety respects.
  • Regular monitoring of the pre-flight and after flight briefings.
  • Evaluate instructor progress in relation to student progress.
  • Monitoring and implementing staff flight training in order to assess if training is meeting the ATO and regulatory requirements prescribed in Part 4 below. Oversight of students training with reference to:
  • Student progress, records (Part 10) and maintenance of student training files
  • Training plan (Part 5)
  • Flight training syllabus (Part 6)
  • Flight simulator training syllabus (Part 7)
  • Theoretical knowledge syllabus (Part 8)
  • Test and checks (Part 9)
  • Co-ordinates and controls flight training OPERATIONS.
  • Maintains flying standards.
  • Ensures standardisation and flight techniques among flight training personnel.
  • Conducts and controls proficiency checking requirements on behalf of the organisation with regard to all initial and periodic flight training including subsequent route competency and instrument rating checks.
  • Ensures that training files and complete documentation records are maintained for each individual flight crew member.
  • Ensures that training reports are to be counter-signed by the crew member concerned.
  • Ensures that training and competency checking requirements are completed with minimum disruption to the normal flight training operations.
  • Ensures that all CAR requirements with respect to the renewal or upgrading of pilot licenses have been timeously complied with.
  • Benchmark closely with other training organisations and submits recommendations that may serve to enhance OPERATIONS training capability and/or procedures.
  • Co-ordinates aircraft scheduling daily with the Responsible Person, Flight Operations and maintenance personnel.
  • Co-ordinate invigilation of computerised exams by making use of accredited personnel under controlled circumstances to ensure the legality of exams written for licence purposes
