Description:

Overview:
The Chief Philanthropy Officer develops and implements the comprehensive fundraising plan for the market of responsibility. Included in this is working with the hospital president to stay informed of priorities, developing the initiatives for support, philanthropy strategy and execution, portfolio segmentation, engagement events, and planned-giving related to revenue. The CPO is responsible for creating an environment to move giving from transactional to transformational. This person is also responsible for on-going stewardship of donors and institutional accountability for all gifts. Identifies, cultivates, and solicits major donors for gifts of $25,000 and over and leads a highly functional and eager fundraising team. Drives strategic alignment between the market’s Novant Health Foundation priorities and community needs.

Qualifications:

  • Education: 4 Year / Bachelors Degree, required. Business, Psychology, Communications, or related field. Graduate Degree, preferred. MBA OR MHA
  • Experience: Seven years fundraising experience including Capital Campaign and Major Gift Solicitation or related experience. Experience managing a team and working with a Board of Directors, required.
  • Five years fundraising in healthcare environment, preferred.
  • Licensure/Certification: Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE), preferred.
  • Additional Skills Required: Experience leading a team focused on targeted revenue goals in a fundraising or sales environment.
  • Proven track record developing donor relationships to secure major gifts ($100,000+).
  • Goal oriented and revenue driven with the ability to coach high performing team members.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and innovative drive for reaching the next great idea and exceeding goals.
  • Works well in a fast paced environment focused on revenue, activity and accountability.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skill set.
  • Experience working with boards and board committees.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to assess risk, identify and address issues and prioritize.
  • Ability to utilize CRM data to make informed decisions for the organization.
  • Demonstrated desire to exceed core customer service responsibilities, standards and behaviors with communication, understanding, sensitivity, teamwork, ownership, motivation, excellence and respect.
  • Ability to work both independently without close oversight, and as a team player who will productively engage with others at varying levels of seniority within and outside Novant Health.
  • Flexible and adaptable style; a leader who can positively impact both strategic and tactical fundraising initiatives.
  • Ability to construct, articulate and implement annual strategic development plan.
  • Ability to take initiative and to manage multiple tasks and projects at a time.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Raiser’s Edge.
