Description:

Heritage Family Services is hiring full-time Child and Youth Care Workers for programs based in Wetaskiwin, Alberta.
Shifts range from 3 on 3 off – 8-hour to 12-hour shifts.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Post-secondary education (or enrollment) in Social Work, Human Services, or a related field is preferred.
  • A Criminal Record Check (with Vulnerable Sector Check), Child Intervention Check, Class 5 Driver’s License, and a Driver’s Abstract (with fewer than six demerits) are required for employment.
  • Understanding and respect for Indigenous traditions and culturally appropriate care.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse communities and individuals from marginalized identities and experiences.
  • Familiarity with inclusive terminology, gender identities, and pronouns.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Build trusting relationships while respecting individual needs and identities.
  • Maintain a safe and secure environment by following safety protocols and supporting emotional stability.
  • Facilitate day-to-day routines and youth-centered programming.
  • Assist with meal preparation and support youth in developing life skills.
  • Celebrate and promote the development of the youth’s self-concept.
  • Advocate for children and youth, ensuring they have access to the Child and Youth Advocate.
  • Provide a supportive and nurturing environment tailored to the emotional state of each youth.
  • Help youth develop social, cognitive, and self-regulation skills.
