The Role
NWP is hiring for a full time Permanent Child Development Worker. This position will assist with the operation of the Demonstration Day Care. The Child Development Worker will establish and maintain a collaborative working relationship with other staff members in the program, demonstrate appropriate practice in interaction with children and ensure the philosophy of developmentally sound practice is reflected in programming. The Child Development worker will model positive guidance strategies and maintain health and safety practices, procedures and protocols. In conjunction with the Child Development Manager, they may also make changes to physical learning environments including the classroom, the gym and the playground, on an ongoing basis based on observations and the evaluations of the children’s needs and interests. The Child Development Worker will record observations of the children throughout the year, document emergent literacy, emergent numeracy, growth and development in all areas, collect samples, videotape and photographs to illustrate. The Child Development Worker also provides supervision and model for practicum students in the Early Learning and Childcare Program and may have an opportunity to attend pertinent workshops.

Verified Level 1, 2 or 3 Early Childhood Educators are eligible for the relevant Alberta Government wage top-up in addition to the base salary. Permanent employees work a 35 hour work week with specific schedule to be discussed at interview.
The starting equivalent hourly rates are as follows:
No certification - $23.20
Level 1 Early Childhood Educator - $25.84
Level 2 Early Childhood Educator - $28.25
Level 3 Early Childhood Educator - $31.82

- Early Learning and Child Care Certificate is required;
- Standard First Aid, Infant CPR, and a clear Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Search;
- Six months experience in a daycare or preschool setting is required;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
- Strong organizational and multitasking ability;
- Ability to build strong relationships with internal and external clients;
- A high level of integrity, reliability and accountability;
- A high level of integrity, professionalism and accountability;
- A combination of education and experience will be considered.
