Description:
This position is full time at 32 hours per week and will include split shifts. The position is eligible for the YMCA of Northern Alberta benefits plan. Successful candidates will need to obtain their Level 1 Early Childhood Educator certificate within 3 months of hire/transfer.
YMCA of Northern Alberta is looking for a positive and interactive candidate to work with other staff and volunteers as a Child-Minding Instructor by providing quality instruction and supervision in City of Edmonton community recreation centres. This posting is for full time child minding instructors at the Terwillegar (6), Kinsmen (3), Clareview (3), The Meadows (5), and Commonwealth (3) Community Recreation Centres.

Responsibilities:
- Role model recruitment and retention of volunteers and members.
- Consistently deliver high quality service by maintaining positive interpersonal relationships with staff, volunteers and members. Prioritize effective communication by responding to calls, messages and emails in a timely manner.
- Ensure all administrative duties related to programs and members are accurately completed as assigned by the coordinator (e.g. lesson plans).
- Facilitate high-quality programs and activities for program members by providing age appropriate activities and integrating international development education in all program areas.
- Actively supervise members and volunteers during programming, ensure behaviors is compliant with the Child, Youth Behavior Management and abuse Policy.
- Ensure programs start and finish on times.
- Work with parents about their concerns and demands, and collect fees from them on each visit.
- Follow all YMCA standards at all times, follow the audit process for program quality assurance.
- Maintain all equipment and follow safety standards.
- Ensure all safety documents are completed accurately, all sign-in and out procedures for parents are followed, and staff is following head counts and maintaining ratios.
- Comply with the Centre’s emergency response and procedures by; participating in an annual review of emergency procedures, take action as needed to ensure a safe work environment for staff and volunteers.
- Act as a first responder to health and safety issues.
- Notify the manager on duty if any emergency or serious problems arise.
- Consistently represent YMCA’s values and mission, encourage a healthy lifestyle, participation of others by helping out by their respective means, enrich the quality of programs and services, promote YMCA as a charity according to YMCA SAM Standards Document.
