Description:
Job Summary: At Wonderment Child Centre, we offer a structured and supportive before and after school program aimed at fostering a nurturing environment for children. We are looking for a dedicated and passionate childcare educator to join our team. This role will be responsible for guiding and mentoring children, creating developmentally appropriate activities, and building meaningful relationships with children and families. The ideal candidate will help continue to provide the highest level of care, ensure children’s growth, and contribute positively to the community.
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:
· At least 2 years of experience in a similar role with comparable responsibilities, such as childcare, day home, or group care with children.
· Previous experience working with children in an educational or childcare setting.
· Strong understanding of early childhood education principles and best practices.
· Familiar with the principles of the Flight curriculum.
· Knowledge of special education strategies and accommodations for children with diverse needs.
· Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
· Proven leadership abilities, with the ability to manage a classroom and effectively address children’s behavior.
· Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
· Familiarity with child development and strategies for promoting learning and growth.
· Proficiency in using computers and educational software programs.
· Ability to prepare detailed reports, lesson plans, and other documentation as needed.
· Education & Certifications:
- Childcare Level 2 or 3 early childhood educator certificate.
- Standard First Aid certification.
- Proof of criminal record check with a vulnerable sector search.
Characteristics: This is a leadership position with children, so you should be self-motivated, have effective communication skills, and be decisive and passionate. It is also a creative role, so you must be open to personal and professional growth and constructive feedback about your work.
