Description:

We are currently looking for Childcare Shift Supervisors for 1st shift weekends, Friday-Sunday, 6:45am-7pm. Must be able to accommodate holiday work schedules, as needed.
Working in our crisis and pediatric crisis nurseries, Childcare Shift Supervisors are primarily responsible for coordinating all shift responsibilities for their staff and volunteers. The Childcare Supervisor is responsible for monitoring their team’s use of trauma-informed care and conscious discipline practices and will intervene as appropriate to provide guidance to the team. The successful candidate will provide positive leadership while overseeing staff, supporting the children and families, and maintaining a structured environment.
Major functions: Coordinates all shift responsibilities for staff and volunteers.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 21 years of age or older
  • GED or high school diploma required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Early Childhood Education, or Associate Degree and related experience preferred
  • 2+ years of direct paid childcare experience required
  • 1 year Supervisory experience
  • Able to accommodate evening, weekend and holiday work schedules
  • Computer experience: Microsoft Office Suite, UKG time management, client management software
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be able to lift 40 pounds without restriction, bend at the waist, grasp handle and lift weight overhead and have mobility in sitting, kneeling, crawling and running.
  • Valid State of Ohio driver’s license
  • CPR/First Aid certifications within six months of being hired.

Responsibilities:

MAJOR SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: STAFF MANAGEMENT

  • Provide comprehensive hands-on training to new employees during their first week of employment.
  • Oversee daily management of staff performance and address performance issues through written documentation and inform Nursery Operations Manager as issues arise.
  • Provide weekly one-to-one supervision to all childcare providers on assigned shift.
  • Supervise volunteers by directing them to tasks that are most helpful to the completion of shift requirements and/or childcare.
  • Utilize Nurturing Care Practices and Developmentally Appropriate Activities* when assigned to care for children, and monitor the use of these practices by childcare staff at all times.
  • Provide Trauma-Informed Care and utilize Conscious Discipline Practices** when assigned to care for children, and monitor the use of these practices by childcare staff at all times.

ADMINISTRATIVE TASKS

  • Know and understand rules pertaining to childcare as outlined in 5101:2-5 and 5101:2-9, ODE and CARF standards.
  • Assign shift duties and children to staff; complete shift report and conduct pre-shift meetings.
  • Communicate shift summary and any issues/problems to oncoming shift staff and supervisor.
  • Secure houses and transfer all pertinent information to next shift’s supervisor.
  • Ensure that all staff and volunteers document arrival/departure time.
  • Conduct daily walk-through and inspection of facility and assure completion of household and shift duties and documentation by the end of shift.
  • Process appropriate documentation on attendance, vacation, incident reports, disclosures, etc. in a timely manner.
  • Answer phones and door, respond to voice mail inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Receive gifts/donations and complete donation form.
  • Complete all forms and documentation required for children in the appropriate time frame.
  • Assist the Facilities Department to oversee flow of inventory; report item shortages to Facilities Department and/or Nursery Operations Manager.
  • Conduct and document monthly fire drills in both houses and report any safety concerns as they pertain to the general upkeep of both houses.
  • Undertake other projects as requested by Nursery Operations Manager.
  • Attend all general staff meetings, daily pre-shift meetings and any other scheduled shift/staff meetings and training sessions.
  • Complete and maintain all necessary training requirements and certifications for direct care employees as defined by State regulations.
  • Must be culturally competent and supportive of diversity in both service to clients and through professional interactions.
