About the role
We are seeking a values-driven and proactive Children and Family Worker to provide support for the Corps Officer in delivering the mission of The Salvation Army. The role will involve overseeing and coordinating community and Corps-based ministry activities, with a focus on children, youth, and their families, while also engaging with the corps community to maintain current activities and facilitating new opportunities within the Latrobe Valley Corps and local community.
Reporting to the Corps Officers, this is fixed-term full-time position, contracted until June 2027, based in Moe, VIC.

You will successfully

  • Develop, implement and oversee existing and new community and ministry based activities and initiatives for children, youth and families
  • Facilitate community partnership meetings with internal and external community partner for purpose of ministry based activities in a state school setting
  • Provide secretarial and/or administrative support requiring a high degree of judgement, initiative, confidentiality and sensitivity in the performance of work
  • Provide training and guidance to Volunteers; encouraging, equipping, developing, and empowering them to appropriately support the mission
  • Volunteers are recruited, trained and effectively engaged to support children, youth and family activities, in line with TSA policies and procedures
  • Supports Pastoral Ministry of Latrobe Valley Salvos

You will have

  • Minimum Diploma in either Community Services or Chaplaincy or Similar is desirable
  • Community experience in a local church either as a staff member or volunteer
  • Experience in Community Engagement on behalf of a religious institution or not-for-profit organization is desirable
  • Demonstrated experience in community engagement on behalf of a religious institution or not-for-profit organisation is desirable
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and running community-based activities
  • Demonstrated ability to provide a high level of community service
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team of volunteers
  • Sound communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Solid level of computer literacy, including exposure to accounting and databases desirable
  • Capacity to facilitate groups and one to one with a particular focus e.g. faith-based groups
  • A Current VIC Driver’s Licence
  • Current VIC Working With Children’s Check
  • Available and flexible to attend camps, retreats and be involved in some after-hours activities including Sundays
