We are seeking a dedicated Children’s Nurse to join our team of Care Coordinators in a dynamic and fulfilling role. As part of a trio of specialised nurses, you’ll play a crucial part in supporting children with complex medical needs to access education.
You will thrive in a flexible environment and demonstrate a strong commitment to supporting our team of Specialist Learning Support Assistants (SpLSAs). This role demands quick thinking and the ability to work independently, making it perfect for a proactive and resourceful nurse looking to make a real difference in children’s lives.
Responsibilities:
You will:
- jointly train, monitor and supervise a team of 22 Specialist Learning Support Assistants in the medical interventions required to meet the needs of the CYP alongside the two current Care Co-ordinators
- work collaboratively with colleagues in education, health and social care, attending meetings where necessary.
- line managing a small team of SpLSAs and be responsible for their professional development
- assessment of competency in a variety of medical interventions in line with the service guidelines and assessment frameworks
- undertake relevant CYP school health care plans and risk assessments for CYP and staff in a variety of settings.
You will need
- Current Nursing and Midwifery Council registration with child branch registration or RSCN diploma/degree
- A mentorship or teaching qualification (or willingness to undertake)
- Experience of working with CYP with complex medical needs and reliant upon technology such as tracheostomy, gastrostomy feeding, jejunostomy feeding, non-invasive ventilation, oral suction, oxygen therapy
- Experience of managing people
