Brighter Futures for Children (BFfC) is a not-for-profit company, owned by, but independent of, Reading Borough Council. Although we are independent, we are very much part of the Reading Family. SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Either experience of working within
  • a social care organisation and familiarity with family help processes and terminology or
  • an education context including awareness of school, special education needs process
  • A comprehensive understanding of
  • A social case management system (Mosaic preferred) or
  • An education management system (Synergy preferred)
  • Working with Power BI – including Power BI Desktop, Power Query and Power BI Service, or experience of an alternative reporting technology platform
  • Use of standard Microsoft desktop tools, especially Excel
  • Use of Microsoft SQL Server toolset – e.g. SSMS, SQL/T-SQL, SSRS, SSIS – of benefit
  • A precise and accurate approach to data tasks, with a good attention to detail and a tenacious attitude to problem resolution and task completion
  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues at all levels across the organisation, including generation of presentation materials
  • A desire to develop your technical data skill set
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a wider team
  • Awareness of additional applications, tools and utilities associated with children’s data, wellbeing and education of additional benefit.

Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is an exciting opportunity for you to work as a Performance Analyst within the Performance and Data Team. We are looking for 2 Performance Analysts to support and promote the effective use of data. One role will have a focus on Family Help and Children’s Social Care whilst the other will have a focus on Education data including special education needs and disability, attendance and inclusion. You will be responsible for developing extracts and reports using Power BI/SQL/Excel, analysing output and monitoring the quality of the associated data, liaising with service colleagues to increase awareness of internal processes and best practice, and encouraging the effective use of our tools and reporting.

THE ROLE INCLUDES:

  • Proactively promoting the accurate, timely collection and use of performance data
  • Developing, maintaining and enhancing datasets, models and reports from multiple data sources
  • Extracting and transforming data on the SQL Server platform
  • Compilation of the statutory returns and benchmarking information for both external and internal review
  • Monitoring and validating the integrity and quality of the data supporting children’s services
  • Cleansing and correcting data within an agreed framework of activities and approvals
  • Working with operational staff to improve and maintain data recording
  • Providing advice and guidance on the effective use of our case management tool and associated reporting
  • Providing recommendations for improvements including reporting scope/content and impact assessment of potential application configuration changes
  • Assisting with the production of information and commentary, presenting data appropriately for the target audience
  • Liaising with external organisations and internal teams to deliver our data and services.
  • Documenting processes and maintaining system change logs
