Description:
FULL-TIME, PERMANENT
The First Assessment Service is Children’s Services first point of contact for requests for help and protection of children in Bristol. This is a well-established service with a skilled, knowledgeable, and experienced existing staff group; made up of Team Managers, Social Workers, First Response Advisors, and Business Support Officers.
This is a newly created position following the promotion of one of the existing Business Support Officers within the team. The Children’s Social Care Assistant role is a predominantly administrative role, with some scope for direct contact and support work with children and families.
Your daily tasks would include (but are not limited to):
- Uploading of email/webform referrals for children onto the internal database system.
- Co-ordinating multi-agency meetings and minuting of these meetings.
- Supporting the day-to-day business support functions of the First Assessment Service.
- Supporting social workers to deliver plans for children, including supporting on visits when required.
- Coordinating and managing payments to children in care.
- Receiving and triaging calls from professionals and members of the public.
- Coordination of staff rotas under direction of the team manager.
The role would suit a candidate with a background in administration, an understanding and interest in the work of children’s social care, and who would like to have some opportunities within their role for direct contact with children and families, under the direction of a social worker or team manager.
