Vulnerable children in the UK need your help
Wherever you work in the Action for Children family, you’ll be helping to change the lives of the most vulnerable children in the UK.
Last year, we helped more than 687,000 children and families across the UK. From direct work in communities to national campaigning, we are focused on making sure every child has a safe and happy childhood, and the foundations they need to thrive.
Why Action for Children?
Working here is more than a job. Everyone in the Action for Children family is passionate about protecting and supporting children. It’s the sense of purpose that drives us every single day. Because we know that, when we work together, we can make a huge difference to bring lasting improvements to vulnerable children’s lives.
A bit about the role
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the NEW Action for Children Peep service in Moray as a part time Children’s Services Practitioner - supporting development and delivery of a new universal PEEP pathway across the area.
As a Children’s Services Practitioner, you will be providing a supportive service to children, young people, and their families, based on an assessment of their needs. You will be responsible for day-to-day resource planning, including supervising, assisting, and directing staff and volunteers in service delivery, whilst delivering training and support in other areas.
About the service
Peep is an early intervention programme that aims to build parenting capacity by empowering parents and carers to feel more confident in supporting their children’s learning and development.
This is mainly done by delivery of the Peep Learning Together Programme through group work and focuses is on language skills, literacy, and numeracy with the building of self-esteem and positive attitudes towards learning.
This is regarded as hugely important in encouraging both adults and children to become lifelong learners and through the programme Peep aims to enable families to feel part of their community as well as boosting their knowledge, confidence, and motivation.

Based on the Peeple principles, the guidelines the Peep team uses when working with families are as follows:

  • Peep recognises that parents are their child’s first and most important educators and takes a positive approach by working with and not to parents.
  • Peep builds on people’s strengths, focusing on what they can do, not what they can’t do
  • Peep values the knowledge and experience that parents have of their children’s development and uses this as a starting point to build on it by offering ideas and information.
  • Peep aims to raise parents’ awareness of how children learn through everyday activities and how they can support development and learning through singing, stories, play and interaction.
  • Peep aims to support the development of positive relationships, secure attachments and self-esteem.
