Children & Families of Iowa is well known and respected non-profit organization, with approximately 200 employees, is seeking to fill the executive role of a CHRO/VP of Human Resources. This full-time exempt position operates under and reports to the CEO, carrying out broad management responsibilities and oversees a small but talented HR team. This position participates in an active role with the senior leadership team for the purposes of overall planning, operation, financial management and administrative policy formulation.
- The successful candidate will develop ongoing executive leadership training to assist the team in staying current and serve as lead for the agency Culture and Climate committee to build inclusive workspaces for employees, gain valuable insights and drive meaningful change.
- Be responsive to the governance role of the Board of Directors and assist them in their function by providing pertinent information through the CEO and/or through the Board Committee process. This includes work in the strategic planning process.
- Represent the agency in the community in relation to areas of specific assignment and as determined by the CEO.
- Partner with the CFO in risk management, safety planning and directing others regarding safety ideas, concerns, plans and goals.
- Lead role on recruitment strategies which includes posting positions, keeping up to date with hiring trends, retention, resources, unemployment claims process and documentation for claims.
- Collect turnover data, employee demographic information and other important data that can be utilized in making decision on benefits, hiring, retention, etc., and professionally present the data to senior leadership and board members.
- Responsible for filing required reports that pertain to EEOC, Workers Compensation, Wage surveys and other applicable reports required either by law or as a community partner.
- Provide consultation, guidance and education to program directors and supervisors, to include labor laws, interviewing techniques, conducting and responding to criminal background checks, references, etc.
- Key role in the employee disciplinary and termination of employment process, working with other senior leadership and applicable supervisors.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree with demonstrated experience of five or more years in Human Resources, with combined experience as a supervisor and/or leadership is required. Must have knowledge and training in human resources areas such as employment law. Excellent communication skills and ability to guide the work of others. Experience with workers compensation process and laws is preferred.
