KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Completing initial assessment and subsequent re-assessments.
  • Planning Nursing care.
  • Delivering and delegating planned care.
  • Accurately communicating and recording care requirements and health status.
  • Re-assessing and evaluating planned care as required.
  • Participating and contributing to care review and communicating with relevant health professionals.
  • Advocating on behalf of resident.
  • Providing resident, relatives and significant others with timely and pertinent information.
  • Consulting with residents and/or family / whanau on issues relating to the resident and their care.
  • Prioritising, directing, and monitoring care staff activities.
  • Providing informal training as required.
  • Supervising the care staff (Health Care Assistants and Enrolled Nurses).
  • Replacing staff as needed in consultation with Manager / on call Manager.
  • Providing feedback to Unit Manager and relevant others anything that will affect the day to day operation of ward / unit and untoward events.
