If this sounds appealing to you, then consider our Civil Engineer, PE opportunity. The position is based in Irvine, Oakland, or San Luis Obispo, CA.
Our mission is to help safeguard our future by executing projects that contribute to cleaner stormwater, encourage greener urban areas, facilitate access for all, and promote pedestrian and bicycle use. The successful candidate will provide civil engineering analysis and design on a variety of federal, municipal, and commercial, including stormwater (large regional capture and site level water quality projects), grading, multiuse paths, complete/green streets projects, ADA ramps, active transportation projects, surveying, bridges, and related ancillary structures. Experience in Low Impact Development (LID) techniques is a plus. The ideal candidate will be ready to contribute as a part of a team and embrace the resulting growth and professional development. Mentoring of junior staff is expected, along with a desire to learn and grow from more senior engineers and project managers.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering required
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in California required, or able to obtain within 6 months
- 5+ years of related civil engineering experience
- Valid Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record
- Desired background will ideally include design-related project work and process experience in stormwater capture/water quality management, low-impact development/green infrastructure, grading and drainage (using Civil3D), hydrology and hydraulics, ADA ramp, bikeway/pedestrian pathways, street design as it relates to complete/green streets, water distribution and sanitary sewer collection systems and permitting
- Strong communication, report writing, organization, analytical and interpersonal skills;
- Ability to self-direct and self-check plan sets and reports; working knowledge of applicable codes, and the ability to review and write project specifications;
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and experience with Microsoft Office products such as Word and Excel
- This position could require periodic travel, approximately 15% or more
Responsibilities:
- Civil Engineering infrastructure design that includes stormwater capture/water quality management, low impact development/green infrastructure, grading and drainage (using Civil3D), hydrology and hydraulics, ADA ramp design, street design as it relates to complete/green streets
- Evaluate alternatives, resolve technical issues, and work collaboratively with other Tetra Tech engineering disciplines (Survey, Structural, Electrical, Mechanical, Scientists, Landscape Architects, etc.)
- Perform conceptual and detailed design calculations and analyses
- Prepare detailed engineering reports and supporting documents
- Prepare construction drawings, specifications, and cost estimates
