Civil Engineering Technician apprentice, SOCOTEC, Coventry
To support our ambitious growth plans, we have a great opportunity to join our Infrastructure division. SOCOTEC is the UK’s largest independent construction materials testing division, delivering seven million tests a year to more than 5,000 clients either in our laboratories or on-site. SOCOTEC offers the widest range of testing, inspection and certification services in the UK. Our sampling and testing methods are based upon current British and European standards and are accredited by UKAS.
We’re looking for a Structures & Pavements Technician to join our current team working out of our Coventry office. You sill develop into the role by undertaking an agreed structured training programme of study in-house so that you will be able to provide an effective, efficient and professional service to clients and colleagues.

Specific duties will include (but aren’t limited to):

  • Assisting with setting up method statements, risk assessments and site record sheets and liaising with colleagues both on site and in the laboratory
  • Assisting with setting up new projects, logging client details onto our in-house database, looking through specifications and drafting quotations
  • Assisting with drafting high quality reports, detailing the site and laboratory test results, using MS Word and Excel and producing technical drawings of site defects using AutoCAD
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and in-house quality, environment and health and safety policies and procedures
  • Invoicing works at the end of the job
