Description:

H&MV Engineering was founded in 1997 and today has over 750 employees. As a general contractor, the company offers services for high-voltage grid connections up to 420 kV and associated medium-voltage systems, from concept planning to commissioning and turnkey handover. Our customers develop sophisticated projects in the technology fields of large data centres, solar power plants, wind farms and battery storage. SKILLS /REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related field (or equivalent experience or professional training).
  • Proven experience in construction estimating.
  • Site based experience on construction sites.
  • Confident with estimating software and tools. Preferably Cost x training will be provided.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and good interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently (work on own Initiative) and as part of a team.
  • Strong IT skills around use of MS platforms eg Excel, Word, Powerpoint, sharepoint
  • Strong organisational skills and good time management.
  • Knowledge of construction contracts and relevant regulations.
  • Knowledge of German standard of method of Measurement and format of German BOQ.
  • Familiarity with German construction standards and guidelines.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Willingness to travel if required (all expenses covered)
  • Excellent German and good English skills.

Responsibilities:

YOUR TASKS:

  • Project analysis: review project descriptions, specifications and drawings to understand the scope of work, project requirements and delivery limits.
  • Estimating: Estimating the quantities of materials, labour, equipment and services required for the project. Use estimating software iTwo Cost X, historical data and industry knowledge to calculate the cost of each item.
  • Conduct site visits and assessments to gather information on accessibility, potential challenges and other factors that may impact the cost estimate during the tender process.
  • Teamwork: Work closely with Estimating managers, Proposal Managers, suppliers and subcontractors to obtain accurate and up-to-date information. Liaise with the Bid team to resolve any ambiguities or uncertainties regarding the project scope.
  • Bid Evaluation: Review and evaluate bids from subcontractors and suppliers to assess their competitiveness and suitability for the project.
  • Client presentations: Prepare Post Tender PowerPoint presentation for client meetings with estimating team, Present Civil assumption and construction methodology to Client to help them understand the complexity of the job in relation to civil works.

  • Documentation and reporting: Maintain records of cost estimates, including all assumptions, sources and calculations. Prepare reports as required by the business or project stakeholders.
  • Industry Knowledge: Keep abreast of industry trends, new materials, construction methods and regulations that may impact cost estimates.
