Description:
We currently have a project requiring a Project Manager to join our team.
As the Project Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the project and the performance of the design & administrative staff in the project.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- BSc or BEng in Civil Engineering is required.
- Must be a professional Engineer.
- A minimum of 20 years of post-graduate experience in design, and construction management of major underground works.
- 10 years of experience in water resource development involving the design and, construction of tunnels and related structures.
- 5 years’ experience in FIDIC contracts.
- Experience in hard rock tunnelling with long TBM drives is a must.
- Must have experience working in African and/or similar developing countries.

Responsibilities:
- Establish and maintain effective communication procedures within the Joint Venture and with the Client and other parties and project stakeholders as requested by the Client.
- Be responsible for liaison with and, as required, working in close association with other consultants (both firms and individuals) appointed by the Client, other organizations involved with the project, and, where required by the Client, other project stakeholders.
- Coordinate technical presentations given by the design team to the Client or its technical and environmental expert review panels.
- To be established in terms of the relevant FIDIC contract between the Client and the Contractor for construction, manage and coordinate submissions and presentations.
- Implement, maintain and supervise a Quality Management System following the requirements of ISO 9000:2008.
- Be responsible for the finances and invoicing.
- Establish and maintain the appropriate procedures for the distribution of funds.
- Establish and maintain a regular system of monitoring time spent and costs incurred on the project against budgets and cash flow forecasts.
- Coordinate and manage the production of the Joint Venture Annual Financial Statements and the audit thereof.
- Manage and coordinate the submission of all project close-out reports required in terms of the Services Agreement.
The successful incumbent will be appointed to Knight Piésold Sandton for a 3-year contract period that may be extended based on project development.
