Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Civil Technician to be based in Kitchener, Ontario.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Design for municipal infrastructure using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and MicroStation.
  • Road reconstruction, land development, stormwater management and site plan design.
  • Lot grading design, surveying, and inspection/certification.
  • Working on complex data sets in conjunction with other CAD and GIS technical staff.
  • Ensuring overall data quality and integrity.
  • Prepare civil design drawings and design calculations.
  • Prepare quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for civil projects.
  • Prepare documentation for design projects and reports.
  • Undertake quality control procedures.
  • Assures that engineering related issues are promptly relayed to the Project. Manager for action and follows up to assure timeliness of resolution efforts.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology (or equivalent)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Civil 3D 2016 to current versions.
  • Bentley Microstation V8i
  • Experience creating base plans from collected survey data
  • Experience working with GIS data
  • Experience working with scanning technology (LIDAR, photogrammetry, etc.) and point clouds
  • Experience in road reconstruction design, land development, lot grading, stormwater management
  • Experience with quantity take-offs and cost estimating
  • Good time management skills
  • Construction inspection experience
  • Design experience with surface grading, watermain, sewer pipe networks, and detailed design
  • Experience working with AutoCAD and Civil 3D
  • Experience performing topographic surveys using a variety of surveying equipment including GPS and total station
  • Certified or eligible for certification as a C.E.T. and a member of the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, contractors and clients
  • Comfortable working in a multi-disciplinary environment
