How does this role contribute to our collective success?
This role is an opportunity to join a leading property and construction insurer in a claims specialist handling capacity. As a claims specialist, the successful applicant will be a key member of the team not only handling complex claims, in a lead and agreement party capacity, but also mentoring the more junior members of the team, as well as building and developing relationships with key clients and stakeholders, internally and externally to continue to strengthen AXIS’ lead role in the marketplace.
What will you do in this role?
-

Be primarily responsible for adjusting all types of property and construction claims worldwide, in accordance with the claims handling guidelines and reporting to the Claims Manager.

  • Appoint and manage third party service providers, external legal advisors and other experts to ensure a premier claims service is delivered.
  • Work closely with clients and brokers and to develop strong working relationships.
  • Handle Company Market and Lloyd’s Syndicate claims.
  • Assist and oversee complex cases with more junior colleagues.
  • The candidate will have working knowledge of handling complex first and third-party claims, including reserving evaluation and coverage analysis.
  • Liaise with underwriters on wording/policy issues, expert panels and provide claims info and attend client meetings as appropriate.
  • Liaise with other internal stakeholders, including Risk Management and Actuarial teams to ensure consistent information and knowledge sharing.
  • Liaise with Ceded Reinsurance team to assist with the reinsurance recoveries and address queries from reinsurers.
  • Accurately record and manage claims files manually and via central services.
  • You may also be required to take on additional duties, responsibilities and activities appropriate to the nature of this role.

What you need to have:
-

An understanding of the London Market in the relevant classes of business.

  • Working claims experience in the insurance industry, ideally with property and/or construction market knowledge.
  • Ability to build and develop strong relationships with clients and third parties.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to a non-technical audience at all levels.
  • Ability to make disciplined decisions based on information provided, with a focus on driving results.
  • A team player mentality with the ability to motivate yourself and others.

What we prefer you to have:

Ideally will have worked in a syndicate or company or at a broker within claims and gained practical experience in the marketplace to independently perform the above duties and responsibilities.

  • Knowledge of ECF2 and London market systems preferable, including Docosoft.
  • Degree or professional qualification of diploma level or above (CII or equivalent)
  • A general interest in property and construction as a whole and a desire to widen technical knowledge and experience.
