Waste Connections of Canada the leader in non-hazardous solid waste management in North America has an opening for an experienced Class 3 Driver in our busy and expanding Victoria, BC location. We put our drivers first and we work together by listening, removing barriers, and providing ongoing coaching and support.
We are looking for a professional driver whose experience and attitude aligns with our company’s number one value – Safety! The successful candidate will be trained on the operation of all systems within our district (Front load/Roll off/Side load and Crane truck) to cover wherever needed.
REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum 3 years commercial driving experience with a clean abstract.
- Roll-Off and/or Front-End Loader experience preferred.
- Class 3 or higher driver’s license.
- Excellent spatial skills to position vehicle and bins effectively and drive accident free.
- Effective communication skills to convey information to dispatcher and customers.
- Knowledge of the area is a strong asset.
- Physically mobile: able to climb in and out of truck.
- Must be able to pass pre-employment physical and drug test.

Responsibilities:
- Ensure safe operation of a truck, while driving, loading, and unloading.
- Drive to customer locations for pickup, and position truck safely to ensure a safe lift.
- Ensure customer satisfaction through reliable service.
- Resolve blocked access, if possible, (e.g., honk horn or call dispatcher/customer; take picture of vehicle blocking access, return for later pick-up).
- Dump contents at designated recycling facility or landfill.
- Review run sheet listing calls and identify any potential issues.
- At beginning of shift, complete a thorough pre-trip inspection.
- At end of shift, fuel truck and complete a thorough post-trip inspection.
- Document any concerns to be checked by mechanic and complete VCR.
