Description:
Under the supervision of the Assistant Controller and guidance of the Clerk C, the Clerk B performs accounts payable functions for the Department including: data entry of invoices in MMIS for payment; coding of invoices for direct payment, matching packing slips and invoices; verifying that invoices are authorized for payment; performing receiving role for invoices in PeopleSoft and assisting with journal entries and balancing, reconciling and reporting functions. In addition the Clerk B is required to prepare invoices daily for customers of Transit service and/or cost recoveries, as well as disburse petty cash to departmental employees for reimbursement.
As the AP/AR Clerk B you will:
- Performs accounts payable functions for the Department. Prepare departmental invoices for payment
- Prepare invoices and other duties related to accounts receivable
- Act as supplies coordinator
- Administrative support for the Plant & Equipment division
- Other Duties as assigned
Your education and qualifications include:
- High school graduation with formal training in business and office procedures or the equivalent combination of training and experience.
- A minimum typing of 40 wpm.
- Experience working in an office environment in the finance field.
- Accounting or book keeping courses or related training preferred
- Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer in a Windows environment
- Demonstrated proficiency in the use of software including Outlook, Excel and PeopleSoft
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with staff, customers in a courteous and effective manner
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and with minimum supervision
- Demonstrated ability to control and balance various accounting records and summaries
- General knowledge of Transit services
- Knowledge of and previous experience working with billing systems would be an asset
