Description:

Reporting to the Campus HR Senior Clerk, the Pay and Benefits Clerk will work independently and is responsible for the departmental processing of all Employee Action (EA) requests in PeopleSoft to reflect employee career events such as new hires, promotions, leaves of absence, transfers, resignations, terminations, retirements, increments, etc. This position provides support to the HR Campus Departments.
The Pay and Benefits Clerk is also responsible for reviewing and updating processes to ensure payroll requirements are met; troubleshooting departmental systems/processes; collaborating and working cooperatively with Corporate Payroll, Winnipeg Civic Employees’ Benefit Program, HR Support Team and City Benefits Team and coordinating benefits administration for the departments.
Enter WCB Incident and Injury information into PeopleSoft and submit WCB timekeeping to Corporate Payroll for processing.
Peggo card uploads, communication, entering EDS and troubleshooting for all Campus departments.
Prepare and present pay and benefits presentation to 311 new hire classes.

YOUR EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:

  • Completion of Grade 12/G.E.D. supplemented with formal training in Business Administration, Human Resources, Payroll or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Minimum two (2) years of prior related work experience in Human Resources and Payroll functions.
  • Experience working in payroll processing including working with workplace policies and Collective Agreements.
  • Experience working in the relevant PeopleSoft modules (e.g. Base HR, Benefits, Time and Labour), or an equivalent HR information system.
  • Advanced proficiency (80%) in the use of Microsoft Excel, basic proficiency (65%) in the use of Word and Outlook.
  • Ability to organize work, manage competing priorities and prioritize workload and meet deadlines in a high stress work environment.
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions, exercising sound judgment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team, establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, supervisors, management, and other civic department personnel, external sources and the public.
  • Ability to work with confidential issues, maintain confidentiality, and exercise discretion in providing information to others.
  • Ability to maintain and organize accurate files and records.
  • Strong attention to detail with ability to accurately perform calculations and balance figures, including but not limited to calculating time.
  • Verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly and effectively communicate technical information to a variety or audiences.
  • Customer service skills with the ability to deal with all requests and enquiries in a professional, courteous and timely manner.
  • Written communication skills with the ability to effectively prepare and draft written correspondence and communication material on a wide range of issues, including but not limited to subjects associated with payroll.
  • Knowledge of City of Winnipeg functions as they relate to payroll/attendance is considered an asset.
