Description:
SUMMARY
This position provides general clerical work and administrative support for District Court following well-established procedures. This position is supervised by the Criminal Division Director.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- College degree preferred.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Four years of office experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience to provide the necessary skills, knowledge and abilities to perform the work.
- A valid Washington State driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
- Must pass a criminal background check.
- Must be bondable.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of general office practices and procedures.
- Ability to organize work and meet established deadlines.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, public officials and the general public.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Ability to learn and operate State computer system for Courts
- Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office programs including Word and Excel.

Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Serves as the secondary department/office receptionist, explains detailed information about court services and procedures and assists in resolving customer requests.
- Opens and distributes the mail and inter-office correspondence; distributes daily outgoing mail.
- Prepares and distributes hearing notices at the counter after court proceedings.
- Receipts daily payments and penalties in compliance with state audit regulations.
- Processes credit card payments as needed.
- Responsible for case-related and office filings; assists with initial case filing and data entry.
- Processes clients after sentencing or findings.
- Responsible for receiving, processing, and transferring civil protection orders filed in the criminal department to the civil department.
- Responsible for mandatory reporting requirements to various governmental agencies such as Department of Licensing Driving and Firearms Divisions, prohibition of firearms rights to various law enforcement agencies.
- Processes arrest warrants including printing, recalls, recording and filing returns.
- Verifies community service hours; adjusts compliance screens as necessary.
- Responsible for end-of-day cashier closeout in accordance with JIS computer system and state auditing procedures and taking deposits to the bank.
- Performs other duties as required.
- Process person and case information and update case records in computer system.
- Scan and label digital files accurately and proficiently use court computer systems.
