The Operational Support Clerk is responsible for providing administrative support for the Emergency Communications Centre (ECC) including shift scheduling and CARM data entry, retrieval of audio recordings and other administrative tasks as needed.

  • Create and update daily shift schedules for the Emergency Communications Centre (ECC) with call ins and ensure that all positions are covered according to minimum staffing.
  • Send out Overtime requests when directed, monitor scheduling email inbox and scheduling software and update supervisors with staffing changes.
  • CARM data entry for all day-to-day shift schedule changes.
  • Provide support to the ECC Scheduler to create the base shift schedule.
  • Provide support to ECC Supervisors, managers and Staff Sergeants based on operational needs.
  • Track and process requests for audio recordings from recorded ECC phone lines including 911, police emergency, non-emergency and police radio transmissions.
  • Provide administrative support for the Emergency Communications Centre including managing visitors, ordering/inventory of supplies, assisting with candidate testing, updating personnel files, and organizing staff functions.
  • Other related duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of the twelfth(12th) school grade including business subjects with an emphasis on word and information processing or completion of an appropriate certificate program from an approved business school/college, supplemented by training in basic microcomputer applications.
  • A minimum of two (2) years diversified word and information processing experience.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and time management skills.
  • Proven technical ability working with various computer software programs and databases.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products is an asset.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated self-initiative and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to prioritize a high-volume workload in a demanding fast paced environment.
  • Ability to adapt to change and work in a multidisciplinary team setting.
  • Experience in an Emergency Communication Center considered an asset.

  • As part of your pre-hire screening, you will be required to complete an Enhanced Security Clearance. Should you accept employment with the Edmonton Police Service you acknowledge and agree to participate in future Enhanced Security Re-Clearances at scheduled intervals or in any other circumstances, exigent or otherwise, as required by Human Resources Division.

Hours of Work: This position works 40.00 hours per week on a rotating shift work schedule including evenings and weekends within an office environment.
Salary Range: 21B, Salary Grade: 007, $23.78 - $29.53 (Hourly), $1,903.00 - $2,362.70 (Bi-Weekly), $49,667.26 - $61,666.99 (Annually). The rates quoted are in accordance with a collective agreement between the Union and the City of Edmonton.
