We have a fantastic opportunity to join Sovereign Network Group as Clerk of Works – Property Maintenance & Technical Assurance on a fixed term basis for 9 months. You’ll be based from our office in either Wembley – London or Hertfordshire. This role will combine office and home working to ensure a positive work/life balance.

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

This role demands in-depth technical knowledge and exceptional attention to detail, focusing on retrofitting and energy efficiency improvements. You’ll need:

  • HNC/HND or equivalent in Building Studies, Construction Management, or related field
  • Strong knowledge of construction standards, building regulations, energy efficiency measures, and sustainable building practices, particularly in relation to retrofit and decarbonisation projects
  • Ability to meticulously inspect works to ensure quality and compliance with standards
  • Demonstrable experience in identifying quality issues and recommending solutions that align with project objectives
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to various sites as required
  • Previous experience in a Clerk of Works or similar quality assurance role, preferably in housing or public sector works

Responsibilities:

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

Join our dynamic team as a Clerk of Works and play a vital role in ensuring quality and compliance within our Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund (SHDF) and Planned Works programs.

You’ll perform site inspections, ensure adherence to building standards, provide technical advice, and liaise with contractors and residents to maintain project momentum. Responsibilities include:

  • Perform frequent inspections at various project sites to assess construction quality, ensuring that works align with contractual specifications, building standards, and design details
  • Log inspection reports, issue reports for non-compliance, and maintain a comprehensive audit trail. Accurate records are crucial for internal use and external audits as required by SHDF and planned works requirements
  • Serve as a point of contact on-site for contractors, guiding them on project requirements and ensuring compliance with the SHDF and planned works programs
  • Provide technical support and advice to ensure adherence to construction and retrofit best practices, specifically in energy efficiency and sustainable design, helping meet SHDF’s goals
  • Act as a liaison between the project team and residents, ensuring they understand the scope and benefits of retrofit and planned works projects, particularly in relation to SHDF decarbonisation measures
  • Regularly assess quality control processes and suggest improvements based on lessons learned from ongoing and completed projects. Aim for efficiency and enhanced outcomes on SHDF and Planned Works
