Description:
POSITION OVERVIEW
The City of North Vancouver is the urban core of the beautiful North Shore and has a long-term vision to be “The Healthiest Small City in the World”, with five key priorities to be a City for People, a Resilient City, a Vibrant City, a Connected City and a Prosperous City.
The Planning and Development Department is looking for a temporary full-time Clerk – Permits to join their team for approximately eight (8) months.
REQUIREMENTS
You will have considerable knowledge of, and the ability to make decisions on, applicable practices, procedures, rules and regulations relative to City processes; a sound knowledge of the automated permit and license information system as related to the work; an ability to generate statistical spreadsheet reports related to the work; an ability to deal effectively and courteously with the public, officials and staff in supplying information and keyboarding skills at a minimum net speed of 40 wpm. In addition you will also be proficient in MS Office. The ability to read blueprints and knowledge of the BC Building Code would be an asset.
Responsibilities:
In this position you will provide administrative and front counter support in the Building Division and for the City. You will be responsible for typing correspondence and materials, front counter, email and telephone enquiries, providing information to the public and staff relating to applications, bylaws procedures and rules, as well as, regulations and policies. You will also be responsible for processing applications and, as appropriate, issuing applications, calculating fees, scheduling requests for inspections, and entering and retrieving data from the automated permit information/processing system. Performs related duties as required.
