UPMC McKeesport is currently hiring a casual Clerk Radiology to work various daylight shifts (with the latest shift being 10 am to 6:30 pm). This position will work Monday thru Friday.
Candidates will be placed into the appropriate job title/salary grade based on experience and education.

Responsibilities:
PURPOSE:
Provides a variety of clerical support services for diagnostic radiology and related departments. Coordinates and communicates between the departments of Radiology, Ultra-sound, C.T., Nuclear Medicine and MRI, by providing any necessary clerical tasks required to maintain smooth operations of the entire department.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide necessary information and forms to out-patients.
- Process all patient and physician requests for reports and /or films according to HIPAA guidelines; also provide CD’s and produce hard copy films from digital images when applicable.
- Receive all incoming telephone calls; screen and direct all calls using proper telephone etiquette.
- Manage patients and patient flow through use of the hospital Patient Tracking System for transfer of patients to and from their appropriate rooms and /or other departments.
- File all patient doctors’ slips, history sheets, etc. from each sub-department within Radiology appropriately, by month.
- Operate various types of office equipment; including a CRT, paper & label printers, CD burner, fax machine, photocopier and Kardveyor.
- Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
- Schedule outpatients’ examinations as necessary within the current Radiology Management computer system, according to the physician’s orders.
- Retrieve x-ray file jackets for radiologist reading of mammograms. Retrieve files, upon requests for comparison studies, attorney requests, etc.
- Fax patient reports upon request in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
- Answer routine questions regarding departmental policies, procedures and operations.
- Provide support at the departmental Reception Desk and ensure a positive customer service atmosphere. Receive and direct patients and visitors.
- Provide appropriate communication to staff in all Imaging areas and assist with any patient questions or concerns.
- Handle STAT or Call Back reports to physician’s offices and direct patients appropriately.
- Alert technical staff of any special concerns or necessary precautions.
- High School Graduate or the equivalent required.
- General office experience preferred.
- Computer knowledge necessary to perform essential job functions.
- Oral and written communication skills.
- Must be able to move within work area.
