Description:

Parrett & Axe CE VA Primary School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join the team as a part time Clerk to Governors to work on average 3 hours per week (term time only - 39 working weeks).
Located in Mosterton, Parrett & Axe is a vibrant and inclusive learning environment dedicated to providing high-quality education and care for children aged 4 - 11 years.

As the Clerk to Governors you will contribute to the efficient and effective function of the Governing board by:

  • Providing efficient, reliable and confidential service to the Governing Body and committees
  • To advise the Governing Body on constitutional matters and procedures for school governance.
  • Managing information effectively in accordance with legal requirements

Applicants must demonstrate flexibility in their approach to the role as there is no fixed pattern of working hours. Meetings are usually scheduled for Tuesday evenings at 6pm but all preparation before and after meetings is expected to be completed remotely from home. A laptop and access to necessary data will be provided for the role.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience of clerking/Minute taking
  • Knowledge of Governance and legislative requirements relevant to a school
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word/Excel/Outlook/Internet
    There will be a transitional period during which the current Clerk will facilitate the handover of the role, ensuring that all responsibilities are properly conveyed and relevant training is provided.

    The pro rata salary shown is based on the number of hours and weeks worked and includes appropriate paid annual leave and bank holiday entitlements.
    The salary quoted is the annual salary for the position at the time of advert. The salary will be paid in equal monthly instalments and will be adjusted at the start of employment and again if leaving part way through the school year to ensure the correct salary is received for the work completed in an academic year.
    April 2024 pay award pending.
    This role is UK based and your Right to Work will need to be established as part of the appointment process.

    Keeping Children Safe in Education
    Parrett & Axe CE VA Primary School will conduct online searches of shortlisted candidates. This check will be part of a safeguarding check, and the search will purely be based on whether an individual is suitable to work with children. All aspects of social media and internet searches will be conducted. As care must be taken to avoid unconscious bias and any risk of discrimination, a person who will not on the appointment panel will conduct the searches and will only share information if and when findings are relevant and of concern
