Description:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum 3 years professionally related experience (defined as with compliance-related, program management-related, and training-related work as part of job duties), or equivalent combination.
- Must have proven computer skills using a variety of computer software and databases with ability to learn new applications and technical processes.
- Possess excellent communication skills, both oral and written, and accurately record, communicate, and disseminate information in a timely manner.
- Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative to develop and implement work processes and procedures.
- Must possess strong organizational skills and be able to manage multiple tasks with competing priorities.
- Must have excellent customer service skills, and ability to relate easily and comfortably with widely diverse groups and people.
- Demonstrated discretion, tact, and good judgment for working with highly sensitive and confidential information.
- Must be able to pass and maintain required background checks and obtain required FBI clearances.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION INCLUDE:
- Major and/or course work in Communications, Criminal Justice, Emergency Management, Law, Public Administration, Student Affairs or Higher Education Administration is highly desirable.
- Certified Clery Act and Title IX training.
- Experience using Spillman and/or Campus Kaizen Guardian records management systems.
- Knowledge of the federal Violence Against Women Act, Drug Free Schools and Communities Act, and Higher Education Opportunity Act, and New York State and local laws concerning alcoholic beverage control, drug/controlled substances possession, and weapons possession.
- Statistical reporting training.
- Experience with Spillman records management system and Campus Kaizen Guardian.
Responsibilities:
The Clery Compliance Associate is responsible for assisting the Clery Compliance Director with the coordination of regulatory requirements and compliance efforts of the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act) for Cornell University Ithaca-based campuses.
This specifically includes:
- Serving as a resource for all laws and regulations as outlined in the Clery Act as well as laws and regulations pertaining to the processing, retention, release, and disposition of Clery records.
- Assisting with the review and development of campus-wide policies relating to Clery compliance.
- Developing and implementing action plans for university-wide compliance with Clery.
- Developing and fostering understanding of Clery for staff and outside entities impacted by Clery requirements.
- Assisting with identification and training of all Campus Security Authorities, collecting, compiling and classifying all reports of Clery-defined crimes and disciplinary referrals from CSAs and outside law enforcement entities.
- Assisting with developing and publishing the Clery required Annual Security Report and Annual Fire Safety Report.
- Maintaining previous and current Clery maps of the main campus and all separate campuses (as defined by Clery).
- Liaising and surveying all law enforcement jurisdictions where Cornell property is owned or controlled in the Ithaca-based Clery geography.
- Ensuring appropriate notices are issued relating to Clery compliance and coordinating with all other compliance coordinators or officers in matters relating to Clery.
- Working collaboratively with the University administration, Office of Institutional Equity and Title IX, Student Conduct and Community Standards, Dean of Students Office, Office of General Counsel as well as many colleagues within the Division of Public Safety including the Cornell Police Department and the Public Safety Communications Center.
