The Opportunity
Following a period of sustained growth and further investment in the ‘major client’ segment we are interested in speaking with individuals who have the experience, drive and ambition to join our Client Engagement Team and help build on this success and further develop QBE’s capabilities and proposition.
The team are responsible for leading all aspects QBE’s relationship with some of our largest clients and prospects here in Europe and are a fundamental component of our value proposition.

Your new role

  • For target clients and their brokers be the visible leader of QBE’s cross-functional team, maintaining oversight of key activity, managing delivery against targets and objectives and operating as an effective point of escalation where required
  • Lead cross-functional QBE teams in establishing, communicating and delivering strategic action plans for target clients and prospects, agreeing deliverables and accountabilities as well as project managing the process through to conclusion
  • Through leadership and management of the process, be responsible for ensuring the QBE team has a clear understanding of the client and broker’s objectives at each renewal and for each new business exercise, with a focus on aligning QBE’s value proposition around the client’s demands and needs so as to drive new and retention of business
  • Liaise with the Broker Distribution and underwriting teams to ensure consistency of messaging and engagement with stakeholders at broker partners
  • Support the ongoing development and embedding of a client engagement methodology across QBE European Operations to drive continual improvement in QBE’s client value proposition(s) and ensure a cohesive strategy is in place to support consistent delivery
  • By working with QBE’s Marketing and Bid Management teams pro-actively support the writing, creation and development of thoughtful and innovative material and collateral for client presentations, new business sales and marketing purposes
  • Anticipate and keep up to date with industry developments to ensure QBE European Operations practices and outputs are of a high standard and drive continuous improvement to ensure QBE remains ahead of its competitors.
  • Actively participate in and contribute to ad hoc projects and strategic initiatives which support QBE European Operation’s business goals.
  • Effectively manage broker and client feedback on QBE European Operations performance, working to understand the client and brokers requirements, the root causes of any issues, and lead the implementation of remedial actions

About You

  • As you would expect with a high-profile position, previous experience in a similar role and with similar sized clients is essential.
  • The role demands a high level of technical insurance competency because you will be working with senior underwriting and claims leaders in the delivery of QBE’s product proposition, and you must have an ability to articulate the proposition to external stakeholders.
  • You will have previous experience of working on non-conventional and also multinational insurance programmes, and will be able to explain the key features and considerations for each.
  • An ability to communicate complex and complicated concepts in written and spoken form is important because you will be leading cross-functional QBE teams in new business pitches, stewardship, account planning and client feedback meetings.
  • The successful candidate will be comfortable operating in a matrix environment, utilising their own experience and knowledge to build and manage internal and external relationships; support and guide colleagues in developing and successfully delivering value propositions; understanding the various demands and needs of the target clients and their brokers and aligning QBE activity accordingly.
  • Your previous experience will provide valuable insight into how other insurers and brokers are developing their propositions, and informing how QBE should look to develop and invest in its own major client proposition.
