Description:
The Refugee Resettlement Client Coordinator is responsible for providing resettlement to newly arrived refugees through the Reception & Placement Program. The responsibilities include Case Management, housing, conducting home visits, employment support, and providing financial assistance. The position will report to the Program Manager or Coordinator.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Fluent in English and at least one of the following languages: Farsi, Urdu, Arabic, Arminian Russian, or Spanish
- Able to analyze and resolve problems with sound judgement and in the best interest of refugee clients.
- Able to plan and follow through with short- and long- range activities to execute deliverables.
- Able to maintain accurate and orderly records and documentation pertaining to refugee clients.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders, nonprofits and other agencies working with similar populations.
- Organized and detailed oriented.
- Has an awareness of acculturation challenges and able to interact with refugee clients in a culturally sensitive manner, with tact, and responsiveness.
- Able to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct services for refugee clients including resources for workforce development, housing access, education placement, health care access, financial assistance and other items as needed.
- Provide a comprehensive orientation and intakes to newly arrived refugees to assess client needs, goals, communicate expectations of the resettlement process and establish a strong, supportive relationship with the client.
- Conduct in-home/house visits with clients to assess placement needs, verify strategic goals and deliverables for each client.
- Educate clients throughout the R&P process on how to access needed services to ensure refugee clients can attain and maintain self-sufficiency beyond the R & P program period.
- Maintain clear and complete case files in accordance with IRR policy and procedures.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the requirements of the Cooperative Agreement with the funder.
- Provide resettlement core services including: a health department screening, application for services with Social Security Administration, public benefits, medical care, school enrollment, etc. in accordance with Cooperative Agreement and IRR’s policies and procedures.
- Coordinate with Program Manager to address other client needs that arise and make referrals accordingly.
- Serve as client advocate with government agencies, nonprofits and other stakeholders.
- Complete assessment of clients’ needs and track progress toward goals.
- Maintain up-to-date programmatic knowledge, data of all services (health department, social security, public school system, etc.) involving refugees.
- Maintain and develop communication and relationships with key stakeholders of services providers e.g. community partners, nonprofits, public/private partners and others.
- Work closely with IRR staff to ensure that all services, including legal services are made available to R&P clients.
- Provide and/or secure transportation for clients to travel to needed services.
- Provide information and referrals that are culturally and financially appropriate to assist clients in maintaining basic needs and reaching self-sufficiency.
- Assist with data entry and data management of refugee clients.
- Represent IRR/Refugee Resettlement program at community meetings and with other stakeholders.
- Attend weekly IRR meeting, R&P team meetings and trainings as assigned.
- Perform other duties as may be required by the supervisor.
