POSITION OVERVIEW

The City of North Vancouver Planning and Development Department is looking for a temporary full-time Client Services Representative to join their team for approximately eight (8) months.

REQUIREMENTS

The ideal candidate will have related customer service experience, preferably in a municipal government setting, along with sound knowledge of all City operations, services, programs, events, bylaws, policies, procedures and regulations, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Additionally, you will be proficient in MS Office, possess strong interpersonal skills, the ability to build rapport through effective communication, both verbally and in writing, and have a demonstrated ability to set deadlines, manage, prioritize, and plan work effectively.
Shortlisted candidates may be required to complete standardized tests or exercises to demonstrate their applicable skills and knowledge.

Responsibilities:

In this position, you will be the first point of contact in greeting and assisting the public at City Hall through various communication channels to deliver an outstanding customer service experience, making every public interaction an exceptional one. The focus will be to respond empathetically to a variety of questions regarding City operations, services, programs, events, bylaws and regulations. This includes answering incoming telephone calls and enquiries, making proper connections to persons and/or departments, and taking messages when a referral is not possible, and/or conducting further research in the request to determine the most appropriate response. Further, you will sort and open incoming mail for City departments, weigh, stamp and seal outgoing mail, and record registered mail. Additionally, you will perform routine clerical and typing duties, prepare and maintain records and files.
